Welcome to Fae Media. These Terms of Service govern your use of the Fae Media website, its editorial content, digital services, publications, and any other services or features made available through the website.

By accessing or using Fae Media, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use the website.

1. About Fae Media

Fae Media is an independent literary and creative publication covering books, literature, writing, publishing, art, culture and related subjects.

The website may contain editorial articles, interviews, reviews, essays, features, guides, opinion pieces, author and publisher information, sponsored or commercially supported content, and other forms of editorial and creative material.

Information about the publisher, business address and contact details can be found in our Impressum.

2. Use of the Website

You may use Fae Media for lawful personal and informational purposes.

You agree not to:

  • use the website for unlawful purposes;

  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website, its systems or accounts;

  • interfere with the operation or security of the website;

  • reproduce or commercially exploit Fae Media content without permission;

  • impersonate another person or organisation;

  • submit content that infringes another person's intellectual property, privacy or other legal rights;

  • submit knowingly false, misleading, defamatory or fraudulent information;

  • use automated systems to scrape, copy or systematically reproduce Fae Media content without prior permission; or

  • use Fae Media content to create a competing publication, database or commercial service without permission.

We reserve the right to restrict or terminate access where we reasonably believe these Terms of Service have been breached.

3. Editorial Content

Fae Media publishes editorial and cultural content for general informational and entertainment purposes.

While we make reasonable efforts to ensure that published information is accurate and appropriately researched, we do not guarantee that every statement, quotation, date, reference or other piece of information will always be complete, current or error-free.

Editorial opinions belong to their respective authors and do not necessarily represent the views of Fae Media.

Reviews, interviews, recommendations and other editorial content represent the author's or editor's assessment at the time of publication.

Fae Media does not guarantee any particular outcome from following advice, recommendations or information published on the website.

4. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, the text, editorial material, graphics, photographs, illustrations, logos, branding, design and other original material published by Fae Media are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Fae Media retains all rights in its original website content except where rights are expressly attributed to another person or organisation.

You may:

  • read and access Fae Media content for personal, non-commercial purposes;

  • share links to Fae Media articles;

  • quote reasonable excerpts for legitimate purposes such as criticism, commentary, review, research or reporting, provided appropriate attribution and a link to the original article are included.

You may not reproduce, republish, distribute, modify, sell or commercially exploit substantial portions of Fae Media content without prior written permission.

Linking to an Fae Media article does not require permission, provided that the link does not falsely suggest an endorsement, partnership or affiliation.

5. Copyright and Third-Party Material

Fae Media may publish material supplied by authors, contributors, photographers, illustrators, publishers, publicists and other third parties.

The copyright in third-party material remains with its respective rights holder unless otherwise stated.

Where material is used under licence, with permission, or pursuant to another lawful basis, the relevant rights remain subject to that arrangement.

If you believe that material published by Fae Media infringes your copyright or other rights, please contact us with details of the material and the basis of your claim so that we can investigate.

6. Contributor Submissions

If you submit an article, essay, interview, review, photograph, illustration, artwork, video, audio recording or other material to Fae Media, you confirm that:

  • you have the necessary rights and authority to submit the material;

  • the material is your original work or you have obtained all necessary permissions;

  • publication of the material will not infringe copyright, trademark, privacy, confidentiality or other rights;

  • the material does not knowingly contain defamatory or unlawful statements;

  • any factual claims have been prepared with reasonable care; and

  • you have disclosed any relevant commercial, financial or personal conflicts of interest.

By submitting material, you grant Fae Media the rights expressly agreed with you for the publication, editing, formatting, promotion and distribution of that material.

Unless a separate written agreement states otherwise, submission of material does not guarantee publication.

Fae Media may edit submitted material for grammar, spelling, clarity, length, house style, factual accuracy, legal compliance and editorial consistency. We may also decline, postpone, amend or remove submitted material where we consider this appropriate.

Where substantial editorial changes are proposed, Fae Media may consult the contributor where appropriate.

7. Contributor Warranties

By submitting material, you agree to indemnify Fae Media, to the extent permitted by applicable law, against claims arising from your breach of the warranties in these Terms, including claims that the submitted material infringes a third party's rights.

This provision does not exclude or limit any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

8. Advertising, Affiliate and Sponsored Content

Fae Media may receive advertising revenue, affiliate commissions, sponsorship, products, services or other forms of commercial support.

Commercial relationships will be disclosed where required by applicable law or relevant platform policies.

Sponsored content will not knowingly be presented as independent editorial content where doing so would mislead readers.

Fae Media retains editorial discretion over the content it publishes.

Where appropriate, sponsored material may be labelled using terms such as Sponsored, Advertisement, Partner Content, Affiliate, or another clear disclosure.

9. Google News and News Surfaces

Fae Media may publish content that is eligible for consideration by Google News and other Google news-related surfaces.

Google determines eligibility, indexing, ranking and display through its own automated systems and policies. Fae Media does not control whether an article will appear in Google News, Google Search's News tab, Top Stories or any other Google service.

Google states that publishers do not need to submit their websites manually in order for their content to be considered for Google News. Content is automatically considered where it meets Google's applicable requirements and policies.

Fae Media therefore does not guarantee:

  • inclusion in Google News;

  • inclusion of any particular article;

  • a particular ranking or position;

  • continued inclusion;

  • traffic, visibility or referrals from Google; or

  • continued eligibility following changes to Google's systems or policies.

9.1 Editorial standards for Google News eligibility

Where Fae Media publishes content intended to function as news or editorial reporting, we aim to maintain standards consistent with applicable Google News policies and recognised editorial practices.

This includes providing, where appropriate:

  • clear publication and update dates;

  • identifiable author bylines;

  • information about Fae Media as the publisher;

  • appropriate contact information;

  • original and substantially useful editorial content;

  • accurate and non-misleading headlines and descriptions;

  • clear disclosure of sponsored or commercially supported material; and

  • appropriate attribution of quotations, sources, images and other third-party material.

Google's current News policies specifically emphasise clear dates and bylines, information about authors and publishers, contact information, transparency around sponsorship, and avoidance of misleading content.

9.2 Originality and republished material

Fae Media aims to publish original editorial material wherever possible.

Where material has been republished, syndicated, licensed or reproduced with permission, Fae Media may use appropriate attribution, canonicalisation, indexing controls or other technical measures where appropriate.

Google's publisher guidance distinguishes original material from republished material and recommends measures that help Google identify the original source.

9.3 Prohibited or misleading content

Fae Media will not knowingly publish material that is designed to manipulate readers, misrepresent sponsored content as independent editorial material, or otherwise violate applicable law or relevant Google News policies.

We may remove, amend, restrict or decline to publish material where necessary to maintain editorial standards, comply with legal obligations, protect the rights of others, or maintain eligibility for relevant publishing platforms.

Google may independently remove content from its news surfaces or take other action where it determines that a publisher has violated its policies. Repeated or serious violations can affect a site's eligibility for Google News and other news surfaces.

10. Links to Other Websites

Fae Media may link to third-party websites, publishers, authors, booksellers, publishers, social media platforms and other external resources.

These links are provided for convenience and editorial reference.

Fae Media is not responsible for the content, availability, security, privacy practices or terms of third-party websites.

The inclusion of a link does not necessarily constitute an endorsement of the linked website, product, service or organisation.

11. Availability of the Website

We aim to keep Fae Media available and functioning reliably, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

The website may occasionally be unavailable due to maintenance, technical problems, hosting issues, security incidents, updates or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the website or its services.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Fae Media shall not be liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from the use of the website or reliance on its content.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is prohibited by law, including liability for intentional misconduct, gross negligence where legally non-excludable, injury to life, body or health, or other mandatory statutory liability.

Nothing in these Terms affects mandatory consumer rights.

13. Privacy

The processing of personal data in connection with the Fae Media website is governed by our Privacy Policy.

Where cookies or similar technologies are used, additional information may be provided through our cookie or consent-management system.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time, for example where our services change, legal requirements change, or relevant platform policies are updated.

The current version will be published on this page together with its effective date.

Where a change materially affects an existing contractual relationship, any legally required notice or consent will be provided.

15. Applicable Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, subject to mandatory consumer protection provisions that may apply in the country in which a consumer is habitually resident.

Where legally permissible, the courts having jurisdiction over the publisher's registered or business location shall have jurisdiction.

Nothing in these Terms prevents consumers from exercising mandatory rights available to them under applicable law.

16. Consumer Rights and Dispute Resolution

Consumers may have statutory rights relating to distance contracts, cancellation, warranties and dispute resolution.

Where applicable, information about cancellation rights and statutory consumer rights will be provided separately before or at the time a contract is concluded.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to restrict mandatory consumer rights.

17. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in effect to the extent permitted by law.

The invalid or unenforceable provision shall be replaced, where legally appropriate, by a valid provision that most closely reflects the original commercial and legal purpose.

18. Contact
